 At North Walsham we want to foster positive attitudes, resilience, fascination and excitement of discovery through the teaching and learning of mathematical concepts.
 To develop a ‘can do’ attitude in our students, so they all view themselves as mathematicians.
 We promote the view that in order to improve our mathematics skills, we must allow ourselves to make mistakes first.
 North Walsham students will be encouraged to be inquisitive and try to understand how they turn a wrong answer into a right one. Being a reflective learner is crucial.
 Build skills that allow students to become strong problem solvers.
 To broaden children’s knowledge and understanding of how mathematics is used in the wider world in careers and in the home, by making rich and varied reallife connections.
 To nurture and inspire students to seek mathematical excellence, so that they are enthused to pursue maths beyond the GCSE core curriculum.
 To prepare and inspire more able students to forge careers and opportunities in mathematics and STEM subjects, without regard to perceived barriers.
 To enable our pupils to confidently reason about their mathematics, using a suitable range of mathematical language, recognising its importance for communication and deep thinking.
 Finally, we want all children to leave school with a love of mathematics, recognising its lifelong importance and value, regardless of the individual student’s mathematical competency.
