Duke of Edinburgh Awards
DofE Welcome Message
Welcome to Duke of Edinburgh at North Walsham High School. During Year 9, students can benefit from obtaining their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award in a well-established and supportive environment alongside their peers.
We offer this fantastic opportunity to parents at the cost of £35, as part of the North Walsham pledges. I’ve seen the excellent impact that DofE has had on students at NWHS and I would encourage all students who have the motivation to complete the award, to sign up at the start of the academic year. Whether students wish to complete the award for fun, to push them to try new things or as something non-academic to add to a CV later in life; there are many positive effects of completing a DofE award.
I introduce students to Bronze DofE in the July before they enter Year 9 in an assembly. They are shown ideas for the volunteering, skill and physical sections so that they can start these sections from 1st September. Tutors will support students in starting these sections and the logging of evidence on eDofe throughout Year 9. A presentation evening to parents will take place in the first half term of the new academic year because parent support is very important to students being successful. If you have any questions about DofE at NWHS then please email me at email@example.com or explore the website information.

Why do the DofE
For the hundreds of thousands of young people who take part each year, the benefits of achieving a DofE Award at any level are endless. DofE is about helping you along the path to a productive and prosperous future. As many of our participants say, it’s life-changing.
Achieving an Award will give you skills, confidence and an edge over others when you apply for college, university or a job. Beyond your academic achievements, universities want to see evidence of so called ‘soft skills’ that you have developed through extra-curricular activities, such as communication, commitment, leadership and teamwork. Your DofE Award is a fantastic way to demonstrate and evidence these skills in practice.
You’ll also make a difference to other people’s lives and your community, be fitter and healthier, make new friends and have memories to last you a lifetime.
