NWHS Leavers Do It In Style At Prom

Posted on: 11th July 2017

A horse-drawn Cinderella carriage, a fire engine, a Lamborghini, a Porsche, stretch limousines, military vehicles, a truck, several vintage VW campervans and a variety of American muscle cars were among the colourful ways that North Walsham High School leavers arrived at Northrepps Cottage on Friday (7th July) for the now traditional Prom.

Over 100 Year 11 students celebrated the end of their exams in style, donning ball gowns and smart suits, and enjoying a meal, entertainment and a disco

In keeping with Prom tradition, students arrived in a dazzling variety of modes of transport, in a procession which took over an hour to make its way to the door of the venue:

  • A Cinderella-style carriage drawn by two magnificent white horses made the biggest impression, conveying four Chloes – Hudson, Boothman, Withers, Pitts – to the ball
  • Alex Fawkes and Jada-Mai Howard were passengers in a massive American truck which inched its way up to the venue
  • Most colourful entrance was by Ellie Napier and Rowan Moroz, who arrived in an authentic Phillipino ‘Jeepney’ painted bus
  • The oldest vehicle was a 1930s open-top Austin 7, which brought Lauren Edens and Ethan Davies to the party
  • Amelia Marshall, Jade Starling, Harriett Laws-Herd and Lucy Taylor made a striking entrance in a fire engine
  • Various sports cars were called upon to convey students, including a Lamborghini, a Porsche and several Mustangs

NWHS head teacher Neil Powell said, “After many months of hard work studying for and taking their exams, the Prom was the chance for our leavers to let their hair down, and say goodbye in style.  As ever, much effort went into making the grand entrance, with a queue of weird and wonderful transport snaking down the drive of Northrepps Cottage and into the road.”
