Newly refurbished for September 2020, the North Walsham High School Library is currently open to year group bubbles on their designated days.
Monday: Year 7
Tuesday: Year 8
Wednesday: Year 9
Thursday: Year 10
Friday: Year 11
Situated in a central location, the library is well-lit, modern and spacious, with carefully designed divisions for group/single study and reading. The library offers a supportive and relaxed environment whilst upholding the school values and the North Walsham Way.
The library is accessible to all students as a space to study, revise, complete homework and of course, read a good book. We have over 7000 books in the library, ranging from brand new fiction to study skills to classics, with a focus on student suggestions and contemporary, relevant books. The library works alongside the English Department utilising Accelerated Reader and library lessons for younger years to improve literacy schoolwide and promote a love of reading.
The library is a dynamic and progressive space, with areas focusing on student wellbeing, current affairs, exciting graphic novels and up-to-date magazines. A monthly newsletter is produced to highlight student achievements, important updates and new resources, which is available to view on the library Twitter. In the near future we hope to open up the library for lunchtime and afterschool clubs, arrange author visits and various events, as well as utilise the beautiful courtyard space next door by introducing a student gardening club.
A new library web app called Accessit has been put in place for students to use in school and at home, which you can find by following this link and signing in using your school account. A number of iPads are now available in the library for this purpose. There is currently a ‘Click and Collect’ service available for all students, accessible through the ‘Reserve’ feature in Accessit. For help using Accessit, please see Ms. Milburn.
